About the author and illustrator:
Joy Cowley is one of the world’s most loved writers and has written many books for both adults and children, including over 400 books specifically for early readers. Her first adult novel was adapted into the 1971 film The Night Digger by screenwriter Roald Dahl. She has won Book of the Year three times at the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards and is still writing full-time for both adults and children. Joy has many awards including a D.Litt. Roberta Long Medal (USA), and is a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2005.


Richard Hoit is a freelance illustrator with a passion for drawing and painting. He works full time on children’s book illustrations and his work appears worldwide. Richard has worked with Joy Cowley on numerous book projects.
