More on the unauthorised biography of Steve Jobs

Publishers Lunch

The NYT has more on the unauthorized biography BECOMING STEVE JOBS by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli and how Apple executives, including ceo Tim Cook, seem to be "throwing their weight" behind the new book and taking shots at Walter Isaacson's 2011 (and authorized) bestselling Jobs biography. "It didn't capture the person," Cook told Schlender and Tetzeli in the book. "The person I read about there is somebody I would never have wanted to work with over all this time."
Public approval from the likes of Cook and other executives was, apparently, a time-consuming process. "I think our patience and quiet perseverance was what eventually won them over," Schlender told the paper. Apple spokesman Steve Dowling explained: "We decided to participate in Brent and Rick’s book because of Brent’s long relationship with Steve, which gave him a unique perspective on Steve’s life. The book captures Steve better than anything else we’ve seen, and we are happy we decided to participate."
