New Ebooks by Veteran Authors Storm Best-Seller List

urlDBW

This week sees a number of changes on the ebook best-seller list, beginning right at the very top.

Stephen King’s new novel Revival knocks John Grisham’s Gray Mountain down a peg to No. 2, after the latter spent two weeks at No. 1.
Grisham and King are among the best-known and best-selling authors in the world, and although nearly half of the ebooks within the top ten are appearing on the list for the first time this week, they’re all by veteran authors with traditional publishers.

Joining King are Nora Roberts, Tess Gerritsen and Patricia Cornwell. (Two other new debuts on this week’s list come from celebrity author Andy Cohen and Jeff Kinney, author of the popular Wimpy Kid series.)

That’s after a series of weeks when self-published authors had made a considerable splash, even after the average price of best-selling ebook began to climb. Deborah Bladon’s Ruin trilogy–each title of which costs $0.99–hangs on, but those are the only self-published ebooks remaining on this week’s list.
This week, the average price of a best-seller increases further still, from $7.63 to $7.82.
