Eunoia Publishing stages sumptuous book launch; sets new standard

Eunoia Publishing has just burst on to the literary landscape. And how. Last night, they launched their debut book The Bitter Sweet Philosophies – a homage to humour, philosophy, art – at venue du jour, Ponsonby Central (PC).

The Bitter Sweet Philosophies is a genre-defying book in which a collective of writers known as KK Jart playfully engage with the surrealist vision of internationally-acclaimed artist, Nick Fedaeff. The result is a triumph; a book like no other. Handsome. Beguiling. Irreverent.

The massive loft space upstairs at PC was artfully transformed by First Scene, who staged the room with props, heightening the drama of Nick Fedaeff’s work, which was lavishly displayed and available for sale. As were copies of the book, which guests were impishly implored to “buy my pretties ” for family and friends, so that Eunoia Directors “wouldn’t wind up homeless – living under overpasses or over underpasses.”

The invited guests of family, friends, literati and media exceeded 200 – and the room was soon buzzing with mingled conversations, fun and laughter.

Guests enjoyed Eunoia’s hospitality of champagne, vodka shots, quails’ eggs, salmon and caviar. Many could be seen writing their own witty responses to Nick’s art on the white sheets of paper that were thoughtfully taped to the wall.

The Directors at Eunoia Publishing really know how to party; the opulence and elegance that they envisioned and conjured for the launch of The Bitter Sweet Philosophies sets a new standard in book launches. More sparkle and panache please, people!

I was there. It was fun. Eunoia IS the new world of publishing. I'm so grateful for their existence and hope ALL other publishing companies will soon be following Eunoia's example. Why do I say this? I say it because I'm the creator of Kiwireads - a website designed to showcase GOOD NZ lit to the world and the site creation is stalled because so many of our best books are too hard to obtain internationally to be worth displaying on Kiwireads. Eunoia shows all publishers how easy it is to prevent this in today's world. All publishers with the rights to Kiwi books, need to either return the rights to the authors or re-publish using Eunoia's methods so that I can then list them on KR. Please!
