It sits high and way up near the clouds, in Italy about an hour's drive from Menton in France.
It has a real spookiness.
Within the village there are two memorials to the
massacre featured in Merryn Corcoran's book The Silent Village (Bateman).
It was an incredibly
moving and memorable experience being there
Three entire families wiped out by the Nazis as they were
tending their gardens.
