Decoding terrorist money laundering is all in a day’s work for best-selling Italian author economist Loretta Napoleoni, and the New Zealand Festival is delighted to host this "economic provocateur" (Time) during Writers Week, 7-12 March 2014.   Napoleoni specialises in understanding the “grey areas” of international economics, where there is no regulation, no law, and terrorism and corruption have global impact.    Join Napoleoni and former TVNZ political editor Linda Clark for an exploration of how the terrorist financing  networks work and insights into her latest book, Maonomics: Why Chinese Communists Make Better Capitalists Than We Do.

Napoleoni is the bestselling author of Rogue Economics, Terror Incorporated and Insurgent Iraq. She is an expert on terrorist financing and money laundering, and advises governments and international organisations on counter-terrorism and money laundering.

A regular commentator for CNN, Sky and the BBC, Napoleoni is a columnist for several European financial papers including El Pais and The Guardian and was among the few economists who predicted the latest recession.
