This is a charming set of stories interwoven by the most
unlikely of things: the titular pair of ruby slippers. Elderly and
eccentric Rosa Petraidis wanders the streets of New York, her offensive
odour and strange behaviour ostracising her from both family and strangers
alike. Although she lives in squalor, Rosa possesses a very valuable thing
- an original pair of the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland during the
making of 'The Wizard of Oz'. The slippers make their way from Rosa to her
relative Michael, and from there they weave their way into the lives of a
handful of New Yorkers, with the impact of their appearance having a unique
effect on each of their lives. The
Ruby Slippers is really utterly charming.
