TOOLS OF THE TRADE at Paul Nache Gallery in Gisborne

Hangline, White Fungus studio, 2014

White Fungus will be part of the exhibition Tools of the Trade which is about to open at Paul Nache Gallery in Gisborne, New Zealand this Friday, March 7. Curated by the Justin Jade Morgan, the exhibition is a collaborative project which asks participants to enter one of the tools behind their labor, with essentiality to the process being the primary criteria.

White Fungus has entered from their studio a hangline. White Fungus: "When we work on an issue, or any project, or just any time at all, we always have a hanglines on which we clip images and notes directly or indirectly to what we're currently working on. We really believe in a tactile approach to working, even though what are ultimately creating is ones and zeroes applied to ink. But before that digital level there are always several layers of tactility. And this hangline is an example of a simple tool and mechanism which we think in a sense through matter. But this is a conceptual layer that is not visible in the end result."

Tools of the Trade runs at Paul Nache from March 7-29
