Pride and Prejudice: 200 years and more 

When: Monday 10 March  at 12 noon (light refreshments served) Talk starts at 12.10pm

Susannah Fullerton, President of the Jane Austen Society of Australia and literary tour leader, tells the fascinating story of how Pride and Prejudice came to be written.

Susannah will discuss the wonderful heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, and the sexiness of the hero, Mr Darcy. Her talk will also discuss the famous opening sentence, and look at the incredible after-life of this novel - the sequels, films versions, translations, merchandise and tourism it has created.

Kiwi authors talk about independent publishing

Hear members of the Mairangi Writers speak about being independently published authors of more than 30 titles across all genres. 
The Friends of the Takapuna Library invite you to this talk about independent publishing which will cover choosing your genre, researching ideas, writers' groups, critique, editing and proofing, online publishing, printing on demand and much more. 
A display of books will be available for you to browse through.
