New Holland Publishers hits the
right notes again as two of their cookbooks have been announced as winners in
the national rounds of the 2012 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, convened in,
arguably, the world’s gourmet capital, France.
Bangers to Bacon: A New Zealand guide
to making, cooking and using sausages and cured meats by young Auckland chef and restaurateur, Jeremy
Schmid, has scooped the Best Single Subject Cookbook in New Zealand.
Bangers to Bacon is a practical and accessible guide to making your own
sausages at home, full of simple step-by-step recipes from the top charcuterie
chef, complete with mouth-watering photography by Devin Hart.
The family friendly gluten-free
cookbook by mother of four, Sarah King,
has been selected as the Best Health and Nutrition Book in New Zealand.
With coeliac disease and gluten-intolerance on the rise as our food processes
change, the aptly-timed release of this book, with delicious adaptations of
Kiwi favourites, means the family no longer needs to miss out on sweet treats.
Freelance photographer Devin Hart has already established his presence on the
food scene with his arresting photography.
Both books will now go on to compete with other
country winners in their categories for the Best in the World, winners of which
will be announced on Saturday 23rd February 2013 at Le Carrousel du
Louvre, under the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum, during the Paris Cookbook Fair.
The prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were
founded by Edouard Cointreau in 1995 and every year they honour the best food and wine books around the globe,
with several thousand books from over 150 countries being entered. New Holland
is no stranger to success at the awards, with a number of its books over the
years having gone on to win Best in the World in their categories.
