Beautiful deals for Stohl and Garcia

Both co-authors of Beautiful Creatures, published by Little, Brown, have signed separate YA deals.
HarperVoyager has bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) to two books in a new series from Margaret Stohl. Commissioning editor Amy McCulloch bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from agent Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of the Gernett Company. The first novel, Icons, is set in a futuristic world where aliens have decimated the population of Earth.
Alcon Entertainment, whose film adaptation of Beautiful Creatures comes in February, has already snapped up film rights.
Meanwhile, Simon & Schuster UK editorial director Venetia Gosling has bought UK and Commonwealth rights in two books in Kami Garcia’s new Legion series, her first solo novels, from Angharad Kowal at Writer’s House. The first novel, Unbreakable, will be an autumn 2013 paperback original.
