Small New Zealand publisher thinks big and takes on the world

International bestselling author, literary agent, publisher and writing coach Jill Marshall has her sights firmly set on the US book market with the launch of JillMarshall.co (www.jillmarshall.co) and the appointment of American publishing specialist David Aubrey.

Aubrey has been appointed Vice President of JillMarshall.co and is charged with representing and driving Marshall’s publishing operation forward in the US, with plans to extend the business in the Northern Hemisphere.

“The US and European markets are of huge importance to the company and to the individual authors, most of whom are writing for a global readership. We need a presence on the ground to maximise the true potential for the business,” says Marshall (left), “and I can’t think of anyone better than David to open the right doors.”

Based in Chicago, Aubrey is in pole position to extend JillMarshall.co books and services to an eager audience. With over 30 years’ experience in the book publishing industry and specialist knowledge of both print and digital media, Aubrey is looking forward to introducing Marshall’s books,  training and coaching to the US, as well as representing her Pear Jam Books publishing house as agent.

Says Aubrey: “JillMarshall.co offers a unique publishing model that nurtures and enhances authors’ careers while publishing fantastic books in a range of media. Having worked with Jill for over a year on  ebooks, I know we’re going to make a great team, and I’m excited to be representing all these wonderful books and authors in the US and Europe.”
With the book publishing industry in a perpetual state of turmoil, not least the announcement this week that publishing titans Random House and Penguin are to merge, author-focussed companies such as JillMarshall.co are of increasing importance.
Aubrey’s appointment commences on 01 November 2012 (US time), in readiness for JillMarshall.co to offer a US intake for the stand-out Partner Publishing and Coaching Programme from the Jill Marshall Author Academy, and the next round of books to be published under publishing house Pear Jam Books. These will be announced at the JillMarshall.co & Pear Jam Books charity fundraising launch for the SPCA Auckland at Stardome, on the evening of 03 December 2012.
