Penguin buys back Puffin Book Club

Penguin has bought the Puffin Book Club back from The Book People.
The club was originally sold to The Book People in 2007 when Penguin also sold its direct sales company Index.
No financial details for the new deal have been disclosed but it is understood a consultation process has been launched on a number of TBP jobs as a result of the sale.

Francesca Dow, m.d. for Penguin Children's (pictured), said: "We're thrilled to have the Puffin Book Club back in the Penguin fold. It is a brilliant vehicle for reaching young readers and is the best-loved reading club in schools. It fits very neatly with our strategic themes: to amplify our brand, to exploit educational channels and to establish direct routes to the consumer.
"We're really excited about the possibilities and will be relaunching a new look in Spring 2013."

The Book People currently sends out five editions of the Puffin Book Club magazine a year to nurseries and primary schools across the UK.
