‘This is a book for the novice and the connoisseur, the wine student and wine professional, the collector and the drinker.’ New Zealand House & Garden

Michael Cooper delivers the most authoritative, comprehensive and sought-after guide to New Zealand wines year after year. Regardless of whether you’re a wine aficionado or novice you’ll benefit from having a copy of this indispensable guide in your bookcase or the e-book on your phone for on-the-spot checks.

I just can't wait for this as my 2012 edition is just about worn out having been carted all over New Zealand and being in and out of my carry bag, the storage box in my Vespa and the boot of our car. Each year I have two copies, one is sent to me by the publishers for review and that is the one I rarely leave the house without,(the one that has now seen better days!), and the other which I buy from my bookseller goes on my bookshelf at home and remains pretty largely in pristine condition. I have all issues back to the year 2000. Each edition is larger than the one before.

Michael is no wine snob, but he definitely knows his subject inside out. A constant feature of the Guide, the one I always read and act on first, is his Best Buy recommendations, which are wines that far surpass their price tag and are a much better bet than that heavily discounted bottle you put in your trolley.
If you have been buying wine from the supermarket based on the biggest discount then with a copy of Michael's book you will not need to get caught out by that marketing ploy again.

The Buyer’s Guide is now in its 21st year of publication and is firmly established as the best guide to New Zealand wines. It’s updated yearly with new tasting notes and ratings, including the current vintage. Each year Michael tastes over 3000 wines to make sure it’s accurate and up-to-date. I am in awe and admiration if his ability to do that and have come to trust his judgement implicitly.

The guide also includes:

**Quality ratings
**Clear and frank tasting notes
**Value-for-money ratings
**Price and dryness/sweetness guides
**When to drink recommendations
**Best buys of the year
**A list of ‘classic’ NZ wines
**Detailed vintage report
