Magnificent
Moon, the long awaited first book of
poetry from New Zealand up-and-comer Ashleigh Young was launched at Unity Books
Wellington last Thursday night. Having spent a couple of years in London after
completing the IIML Masters in Creative Writing, Ashleigh has been working hard
at her craft and the success of the launch was well deserved, with a great
crowd of people showing up to pick up a copy. There were even some Día de los Muertos
skulls floating around on people’s shirts. All went well thanks to the
collaboration between Victoria University Press and Unity Books Wellington.
Check out Ashleigh’s work in essays, poetry and social commentary at www.eyelashroaming.com.
