Famous Five books to be revived for television

They are books which feature adventures, the simple joys of childhood; and 'lashings of ginger beer' - and they are about to make a comeback.

The Famous Five series is to be revived on television, along with Topsy & Tim and Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
According to the programmes' producers, the demand for adventure stories has increased as children spend more time inside.
The books are being developed into a drama series based on Blyton’s original plots.
In a modern twist, the series will also add an element of time travel, following George, a contemporary girl, and her dog Timmy being transported back through the decades to Kirrin Bay in 1954.
There, she meets Julian, Dick and Anne, who are spending the summer with Uncle Quentin and Aunt Fanny.
