The website, www.peterrabbit.com, includes an interactive timeline of Beatrix Potter's life, information on her art and books, games for children and learning resources. The site will also be updated with details of Beatrix Potter-related events and exhibitions taking place across the world.
It also enables users to go behind the scenes at the World of Beatrix Potter in the Lake District, and provides links to the publishers of Peter Rabbit in different territories.
Frederick Warne publishing director Kate Hayler described the site as "beautiful and easy to use" and said it was designed to help Peter Rabbit fans "find out more about [the characters] and their fascinating creator, Beatrix Potter".
A new Peter Rabbit tale, the 24th, will be published in September this year, written by actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson.
