A talk by poet/dramatist MURRAY EDMOND will accompany the launch. Murray is Associate-Professor in the Department of English, The University of Auckland. He teaches Drama and is also the author of stage and radio plays.
RUSSELL HALEY'S writing career began in the sixties, when he published in NZ and American literary journals.
He was a driving force in the publication of the radical magazine Freed in the late sixties and edited its final issue 'Freed at Last' in 1972. Russell is the author of books of poetry, short stories and a number of novels.

The Oxford Companion to New Zealand Literature has Russell Haley as 'a leader in the movement away from critical realism in New Zealand fiction'.  He has also written scripts for several radio dramas broadcast in New Zealand and Australia.
Russell is digging into the archives and putting issues of Freed and other books by him on display for the occasion.
