Yippee - it's James Norcliffe at Tuesday Poem

Tuesday Poem this week is a Christchurch poem by James Norcliffe read at a Gap Filler event - a way of using sites of demolished buildings post-earthquake to lift the spirits of the locals. It is definitely uplifting - packed with Norcliffe's subversive, mischievous humour and a pod of podiatrists. Christchurch poet Andrew Bell is the editor.

Yippee by James Norcliffe

When the podiatrists escaped we immediately set up roadblocks. But they were apparently wise to us and kept to the footpaths. Somewhat unfairly, too, they must have been wearing orthotics with rich crepes soles, which allowed them, well after dark, to ripple right past our defences in a distinctly crepuscular manner and make for the safety of the park.
