Meet Elizabeth Knox: Angels and vintners at Shanghai and Beijing literary festivals

Meet Kiwi author Elizabeth Knox (photo right-Bruce Foster) and let your imagination run riot during her much anticipated talk, titled “Angels, Vintners and the Magic of Make-Believe.”With support from the New Zealand Book Council, Elizabeth will be appearing in both this year’s Shanghai International Literary Festival, and the sister Capital Literary Festival at Capital M in Beijing.

Her many novels include The Vintner's Luck (1999 Deutz Medal, 1999 Orange Prize shortlist), reviewed by Nina Auerbach of the NY Times who commented “We live in such tangled times that even a visionary novelist like Elizabeth Knox cannot quite believe in a guardian angel. But after reading “The Vintner’s Luck,” I do believe in this very different sort of angel who swoops down to earth in this fantastic tale. Even sceptical readers will also believe, since Knox creates so vivid a realm for him, at once orthodox and iconoclastic, mysterious and translucent.”

Elizabeth also wrote the duet of Dreamhunter (2006 Esther Glen Award) and Dreamquake (2008 Michael L Printz Award, 2008 American Library Association Best book award). Be sure to book tickets ahead of time!

Shanghai: 3pm on Saturday 3 March 2012, at M on the Bund’s Crystal Room
Beijing: 2pm on Sunday 26 February 2012, at Capital M
Tickets: RMB 75 Shanghai / RMB 65 Beijing for each session (includes a drink).
