Plimpton Prize Winner To Granta

Michal Shavit at Granta has acquired UK & Commonwealth rights to 'VIRGIN AND OTHER STORIES', a debut short story collection by April Ayers Lawson, in auction, from Tracy Bohan at The Wylie Agency. The first story, 'Virgin', made its debut in the first issue of The Paris Review under Lorin Stein's editorship.

Set in the South at the crossroads of a world both secular and devoutly Christian, 'VIRGIN AND OTHER STORIES' evokes the inner lives of young women and men navigating sexual, emotional, and spiritual awakenings.
Michal Shavit, senior editor at Granta said: 'April's writing is breathtakingly sexy, funny, elegant and brave – we are very excited to be publishing her.' Ayers Lawson recently won the Plimpton Prize for Fiction.
Granta will publish VIRGIN AND OTHER STORIES in Spring 2013.
