30.09.10  - Graeme Neill - The Bookseller

Penguin, Puffin and Orion were joint winners at the latest Book Marketing Society awards for best campaign.
Orion won for Justin Cronin's The Passage while Penguin won for Kathryn Stockett's The Help and Puffin's 70th Anniversary book.
Judges said of Claire Brett's campaign for The Passage "[it was a] well executed and effective trade campaign that built into a highly focused consumer campaign showing really strong strategic thinking".

Jane Rose's marketing for The Help was a "well-orchestrated campaign which achieved a real word of mouth bestseller, with great use of library reading groups and POS". Kirsten Grant's work for Puffin was "brilliantly executed – a ‘classy piece of work’ that ticked all the boxes as well as being highly visual and great fun".

Three marketers were highly commended: Antonia Byrne for Sh*t My Dad Says [Pan Macmillan], Kate Webster and Emma Williams for The Good, the Bad and the Dumped [Little, Brown], and Roger Bratchell, Vicky Watson and Faye Brewster for Snowman [Vintage].

The latest awards covered campaigns between May and August 2010.
