A Book Deal That Was Too Good To Be True


How desperate are we to believe that unknown authors can achieve instant success through the means of an extraordinary book deal? Very, if one recent episode is any evidence. When a late August news story about a six-year-old boy who was allegedly given a 23-book deal, it became in short order something of an urban legend. In truth, it was a hoax.
