Jonathan Cape and Puffin are collaborating to produce a uniform hardback set of Roald Dahl's novels for children, to be published on 13th September, Roald Dahl Day.

Cape has the hardback rights to eight novels, including The BFG, The Witches, Matilda and The Twits, while Puffin has all the paperback rights to the novels plus hardback rights to five, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and Fantastic Mr Fox.
Now the publishers have worked together to produce a hardback reissue of eight key novels all in the same format and design.

Helen Mackenzie Smith, editorial director for picture books at Random House Children's Books, said the new hardbacks, which feature Quentin Blake illustrations on the jackets and are priced between £7.99 and £12.99, would be "infinitely collectable".

"They look great. They are really stylish and have a cross-generational appeal," she said. "They are absolutely perfect for Christmas, and can be bought one at a time or as a set for milestone birthdays or christenings."

2010 will be the fifth year that Roald Dahl day is officially celebrated, with 13th September chosen as it was the author's birthday.

And in a separate story - Puffin plans big, friendly Roald Dahl day
