Lynn Barber, whose memoir, An Education (Penguin), has been adapted into a film by Nick Hornby. It will screen at this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival.

Neil Strauss, who rose to public attention with The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists (Text Publishing). His new book is a survivalist guide: Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life (Text Publishing).

Peter Macinnis, a former botanist and author of two books published in 2009: The Lawn: A Social History (Murdoch Books, ISBN: 9781741960396), and 100 Discoveries: The Greatest Breakthroughs in History (Pier 9, ISBN: 9781741961423).

Michael Hill, who tells his life story in Toughen Up: What I've Learned About Surviving Tough Times (Random House, ISBN: 978-1-86979-046-2).
