NOOSA BOOKSHOP SURPRISE
One of the pleasant villages that comprise the upmarket, low-rise Queensland beach town of Noosa is Noosaville and it was here, next door to the organic café and food store, that we stumbled upon Embiggen Books, a specialist non-fiction bookstore, (although I did spy two fiction titles, David Malouf’s latest and the Guerrnsey Potato Peel & Literary Society), which had the feel and appearance of a library rather than a retail store. The range and depth of the non-fiction stock was most impressive and of course I was unable to leave without first being tempted into passing over some of my precious Aussie dollars.

1000 Artist Journal Pages
Dawn DeVries Sokol
Quarry Books - A$45.99

This is a truly beautiful book featuring over 1000 personal pages from journal artists from arund the world and I was surprised to find at the back f the book a directory of the artists including websites, and often e-mail addresses, for the artists featured.
There is companion title, presently being reprinted, which I shall buy when it is available again called Artists’ Journals and Sketchbooks.

Footnote:
While at Embiggen Books I picked up a brochure about a series of literary events, (book readings, panel discussions, interviews and workshops), under the heading Realty Bites – The truth abut nonfiction, being held between 6 June – 2 August under the sponsorship of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
