Benedicte Page writing in The Bookseller

Scholastic UK group m.d. Kate Wilson has left the company after four and a half years to "pursue other plans". Finance director Alan Hurcombe will take the role of acting group m.d. as of next week.
Wilson said: "I am immensely proud of the management team and staff at Scholastic, and know I couldn't leave the business in better hands. We have made great strides in our educational and children's publishing; reshaped and developed our book clubs and book fairs; launched new businesses; and made leaps in web-enabled marketing, selling and content-delivery.
"Together with the recruitment and development of the management team and other key staff across a wide range of specialisms, these achievements have been a source of tremendous satisfaction and learning for me, and have further built the Scholastic brand. I know that Alan's understanding of the businesses is unparalleled and I have every confidence in his leadership. I am excited about my own plans for the future, and will be communicating these in due course
."
Scholastic c.e.o. Dick Robinson said Wilson's "legendary energy and drive" had helped Scholastic become a stronger company and he thanked her for "outstanding leadership".
