Vintage Knox
5 November 2008

It’s been 10 years since the award-winning “The Vintner’s Luck” was published.

Victoria University Press is proud to publish a strictly limited edition of 1000 copies to celebrate. RRP $60.00
This signed, numbered edition is beautifully designed by the acclaimed designer Sarah Maxey and printed with skill and craft by Printlink in Petone.
Casebound, with ribbon and dustjacket, the production is sumptuous.

Along with this lovely celebratory edition of “The Vintner’s Luck”, we’re releasing a collection of Elizabeth’s non-fiction “The Love School: Personal Essays”.
The writing throughout displays the vivid particularity and rich music for which she is renowned, and a number of pieces take surprising imaginative turns: when the fevered author encounters an angelic stranger in a Venetian back street, for instance, or when Elvis Presley encounters St Jerome’s lion.

Both books are published on Friday 7 November.

The Vintner’s Luck” was a huge bestseller in New Zealand. It has sold over 50 000 copies in New Zealand and over 100 000 copies worldwide. “The Vintner’s Luck” was published in the US by Farrar, Straus and Giroux and Picador US, and in the UK by Chatto & Windus and Vintage.
It has been published in German, Dutch, Norwegian, Spanish and Hebrew.
It won the Deutz Medal for Fiction at the 1999 Montana NZ Book Awards, where it also received the Readers' Choice and Booksellers' Choice awards. It was longlisted for the 1999 Orange Prize for fiction (UK) and it won the 2001 Tasmania Pacific Region Prize.
The Vintner’s Luck” is at present being made into a film, starring Keisha Castle-Hughes, by award-winning NZ director Niki Caro, which we expect is due for release next year.
