New Zealand Law Firm Goes To The Opera

The law firm Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has become the sponsors of the world wide opera phenomenon of the Metropolitan Opera Series which is broadcast live around the world.
The series is being shown in cinemas around New Zealand over the next few months in association with the Arts Channel.

The Metropolitan Opera is the most widely heard and known opera company in the world. The Met is home to the most creative and talented artists, including singers, conductors, composers, orchestra musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from around the world. Known as the venue for the world’s greatest voices,
The Met has been under the musical direction of James Levine who is credited with having created one of opera’s finest orchestras and choruses.
In a hugely successful new programme the Met is showing digitally recorded performances of their most famous operas from the 2007 – 2008 season.

The series is so good that it may well change the way many people think about opera. The productions are lavish are hyper real in their presentation.
The first New Zealand series commences with Romeo and Juliette on Sat 2nd August in Auckland and continues with Hansel and Gretel, Macbeth, Manon Lescaut, Peter Grimes, Tristan und Isolde, La Bohème and La Fille du Régiment.
