DEATH OF NEW ZEALAND BIOGRAPHER

It is with great sadness that HarperCollins Publishers (NZ) advise that Dianne Haworth died peacefully on Monday, 11 August, after a brief illness.

Dianne was one of New Zealand's most accomplished biographers, whose works included Give a Man a Horse: The Remarkable Story of Sir Patrick Hogan, Tears in the Wind: The Lance O’Sullivan Story, and Father and Son: The Bob Kerridge Story.

She also co-wrote Freda Stark: Her Extraordinary Life (with Diane Miller), and Rugby Nomads and the 1905 Originals (with Bob Howitt).

Dianne was a long-time campaigner for animal rights, and was the founding editor of the SPCA magazine, Animal’s Voice. Her love of animals spilled over into her writing, and her telling of the true story of Paddy the Wanderer has proved to be one of her most successful books. Dianne earned the respect of many animal welfare organizations, including the Kaimanawa Wild Horse Welfare Trust, the organization that is arranging the launch of Dianne’s new book, Kaimanawa Princess.

Dianne will be sadly missed by all at HarperCollins Publishers (NZ), who have passed on to her family their condolences along with those of the book trade.

A lovely lady whose passion in everything she did will be sorely missed. Gone far too soon.
