viaLibri

viaLibri, the internet resource site for book collectors, librarians and bibliophiles, has recently announced the latest expansion of its “Quick Query” library search tool.
This unique and powerful feature allows users to search multiple online library catalogues from a single web page using one simple form.

Thirteen new bibliographic databases have now been added, bringing the total number to seventy-two.The latest additions provide expanded access to library holdings around the globe, including four national union catalogues (Canada, Norway, Czech Republic and Hungary) and 5 university libraries (Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, McGill and Carnegie-Mellon). The Russian State Library and specialized book collections at the Museum of Modern Art, The Royal Horticultural Society and Hunt Botanical Institute can now also be searched.
Digital books are also searchable for the first time with the addition of Google Book Search.Using the free viaLibri “Quick Query” tool involves just two simple steps.
The user begins by entering an author name, title and/or keywords into a form at the top of the page. From there a single click of the mouse will initiate a search on any of the 72 bibliographic catalogues that are available. The results of a “Quick Query” are displayed directly on the web site of the library or catalogue being searched and will include exactly the same results as a search conducted on the site itself.ViaLibri’s library search complements its popular search engine for old and rare books offered for sale. A search on either one of these can be easily repeated on the other, making the site uniquely helpful for anyone hunting for information about early or uncommon books

The above story is from Ibookcollector which is published by Rivendale Press Ltd.
