THE MATERIAL MANSFIELD – Traces of a Writer’s Life
Laurel Harris-Mary Morris-Joanna Woods
Random House $39.99

Random House has published this handsome hardback book in association with the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace Society and one imagines that is where most copies will be sold.
Many of Mansfield’s possessions have been brought together for the first time in this book with accompanying text about them by Mansfield herself and others. So there are pieces of furniture, items of clothing, jewellery, passports, trunks, books, her Corona portable typewriter, a copy of her will and a miscellany of other stuff.

Our fascination with Mansfield seems endless and this book will further fuel that fascination. All royalties from the sale of this book will go to support the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace.

An exhibition of the same name opened at the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace and Heritage Garden in Wellington on 14 February and will run until 4 May.
