First New Zealand writing marathon
News from the New Zealand Festival of the Arts

On Monday people can witness the first writing marathon in the country. In Once Upon A Deadline six writers armed with wireless laptops take to the streets of Wellington. Their goal is to create a story of no more than 1,200 words in one day inspired by the various locations they will be placed in. The locations are secret until 8am on Monday when the marathon starts. Keep an eye out for updates on our website and go see the writers creating in their locations. Then at 6.30pm join the writers when they present the short stories they've created during the day. The "Read-Off" is free to the public and happens at the Pacific Blue Festival Club, Monday at 6.30pm.
Once upon A Deadline kicks off the New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week, which features more than 40 sessions with writers and journalists form all around the world including, James Meek, Paul Muldoon, Joseph Stiglitz, "Mr. Doonesbury" Garry Trudeau and many more. More details
