French book awards

After writing earlier today about the Art Foundation Awards and the CLL Prizes I was interested to read the following in the on-line version of The Guardian:

"France prides itself on being the world literary capital, with 3000 awards each year ,(3000awards,can you believe that?!),and a handful of winners that shape the reading habits of the nation. But its autumn season of major literary awards has been shaken by a high-profile spat between judges and a pattern of foreign writers taking home the big prizes".
